Dr. Kathy Chen is a licensed psychologist with more than 15 years of dedicated experience in the treatment of eating disorders. Since 2010, she has worked in this field, helping individuals across diverse backgrounds build healthier relationships with food and more compassionate relationships with themselves. Known for her integrative approaches, Dr. Chen is a strong advocate for the use of mindfulness and relational-based interventions in the eating recovery process, emphasizing present-moment focus, compassion, and emotion regulation as foundational elements of long-term healing. Dr. Chen also plays a key leadership role in New Oakland’s PROPEL program, a specialized track to help professionals with managing mood and anxiety symptoms related to the workplace. Dr. Chen’s work reflects a deep belief in the capacity for change as well as acceptance and appreciation of the human experience. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time in her garden and deepening her interest for art history.
