Language Access for Individuals with LEP

We recognize that language should never be a barrier to care. Individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) are entitled to meaningful access to our services. To ensure this:

  • We provide qualified interpreters at no cost to the individual
  • Language assistance is delivered timely, accurately, and in a format that meets the individual’s needs
  • Individuals may request services at any time by speaking with a New Oakland staff member
  • We do not rely on family members, minors, or unqualified staff to interpret except in emergencies, and only temporarily
  • Translated materials are available for vital documents in the most common languages spoken in our service area

Additional Accessibility Measures

  • We provide auxiliary aids and services for individuals with disabilities, including screen-reader compatible materials and accessible formats
  • All notices of non-discrimination and language assistance are posted prominently on our website and in physical locations
  • Individuals may file grievances related to discrimination or access barriers through our designated Section 1557 Coordinator
