Jeffrey Sendi, DO

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Jeff Sendi, DO, serves as New Oakland’s Chief Medical Officer, bringing more than three decades of frontline medical experience to the organization’s behavioral health mission. A board-certified physician in both Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine, Dr. Sendi has built a distinguished career as one of Michigan’s most respected emergency physicians. His background includes leadership roles as emergency department medical director, director of mobile critical care, and medical educator — roles that have deepened his understanding of acute crisis response and the complexities of co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. Dr. Sendi’s extensive ER experience makes him uniquely equipped to guide New Oakland’s innovative approach to crisis behavioral health, especially given the growing number of psychiatric emergencies presenting in hospital settings. A member of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association, he remains active in multiple quality and leadership councils across the region. He joined New Oakland in 2011 and has been named a “Top Doc” by HOUR Detroit Magazine multiple times.
